I don’t remember the last time I wrote a blog so there’s clearly a lot to cover! Writing this on New Year’s Eve it feels appropriate to summarise 2020 as we move on from what is probably the most strangest year any of us will probably ever experience again in our lives.. It’s not been my easiest year personally either, but so many lessons that will set me up for success in 2021. I experienced a relationship and break-up worthy of a blockbuster movie.. I found myself at risk of redundancy.. planned trips of a lifetime were cancelled and my house has been on and off the market, hosting more house viewings than I care to remember! I worked flat out through the initial lockdown - my job involved sourcing and implementing all the Covid measures for a very well known coffee chain, to keep our team members and customers safe. At such a time I was more grateful than ever to have a horse - my only excuse to leave the house daily and keep my mental health stable, despite all the challen

Meet our senior Trailblazer Rider Ambassador Winners - Hannah Marrs and her horse's Lucy and Louis

It all began last summer, Trailblazers Championships 2018. I had only been jumping Mr Pickles off the lead rein for a few months. I was 8 years old and Mr Pickles was my 11 hand pony that I had owned since I was 4 years old. He was my lead rein pony and my first jumping pony. The finals came and I was eliminated in both rounds of the 65cm 12 and under championship. But I had the most amazing time, made brilliant friends, and loved the experience. I made mummy promise that we could come back next year and I told myself I would win a rosette.

At the end of the summer 2018 we had Sali Mali. She is a 12.2 dark bay mare. She was much faster than Mr Pickles and jumped much higher. When I first had her I fell off alot, I sang nursery rhymes when we cantered and had to jump fences in trot. Over the winter we worked hard and we started to get better. I qualified Mr Pickles for the Trailblazers 65cm second round and Sali Mali for the 65cm and 75cm second round.
